Bogey Competition Scoring
Calculating Your Score in a Bogey Competition
If you score a net Bogey you enter a “-“

If you score a net Birdy you enter a “+”

If you score a net par (allowing for any strokes you receive) you enter a “0”

For example, your course handicap is 18. Hole 1 is a Par 5.

On Hole 1 you score a 6. You get 1 extra shot, so you have a net 5 (Net Par)
You record a “0” (You have tied the hole)

On Hole 1 you score a 7. You get 1 extra shot, so you have a net 6 (Net Bogey)
You record a “-” (You have lost the hole)

On Hole 1 you score a 5. You get 1 extra shot, so you have a net 4 (Net Birdy)
You record a “+” (You have won the hole)

If you score less than a 5, you still only get a “+”
If you score more than a 6, you still only get a “-“

Getting gross birdies when you have a shot is of no benefit, just make sure of the net birdy. Same as a 10 on a hole, which will still only be “-“

At the end add up all the “+” and subtract all the “-“. Hopefully, you will end up with more “+” than “-“ – Happy Days!!!

It is effectively a Matchplay scenario playing against the course. You either win, lose or tie the hole against the course.

And the Course never buys a drink!
